    Opportunities

Serving Ireland’s largest provincial city, Cork Airport has a significant and growing catchment area demanding ever increasing connectivity with Europe and beyond for business and leisure. We have identified key route opportunities through this demand and through measuring previous successes:

    Cork —> Dublin

275,000 passengers residing in Cork travelled to Dublin Airport in 2012, with 66% of those flying to Europe, 18% to the UK and 11% to the USA. The route peaked in 2007 at 475,000 passengers. This route qualifies for Route Support at both ends and Transfer Support on qualifying routes.

    Cork —> Berlin

A Cork/Berlin route has potential for 3 weekly services at initial stages. In 2011, 45,000 passengers travelled from Germany to Cork on EI scheduled services. LHR and AMS were the main connecting hubs used by those travelling indirectly to FRA, HAM and TXL.

    Cork —> Frankfurt

Germany is the top connecting destination over Europe from Cork Airport. FRA is still the largest unserved European market from Cork Airport.

    Cork —> Madrid

After Frankfurt, Madrid is the largest unserved European market from Cork Airport. Until 2007, a direct Cork to Madrid service operated and 25,000 Pax annually used this service.

    Cork —> Copenhagen

With ongoing rave reviews for food, style and culture, Copenhagen is a desirable destination. It also offers a direct route from the south of Ireland to Scandinavia and onward connections to Asia and the Middle-East.

    Cork —> New York

The Big Apple is the most desired USA destination from Cork, with year round demand from both leisure and business travellers. New York also serves as an outstanding hub for onward connections to our Cork diaspora in Boston, Chicago and San Francisco.
